4 steps for a successful videoconference
The spreading of COVID-19 virus has affected our professional and private lives. Home and professional environments merge: it is not always possible to have a dedicated working space.
Here some suggestions to carry out a professional videoconference:
1 Define the rules
- During a videoconference with more than two participants ask to mute the microphone during the presentation to limit interruptions and distraction.
- Act like in a real business meeting:
- Videoconference is only an instrument: your behavior and attire should comply with a business scenario.
2 Present yourself like a normal meeting
A videoconference is just a tool. Everything else should be done in the same way you would conduct a normal in-presence meeting, so be on time and choose an appropriate outfit.
3 Ideal environment
The videoconference environment is important for you and your "virtual" guest:
- Choose a background with a white wall to avoid distracting your guest. If unable, please download our backgrounds: click here.
- Avoid too much room light brightness and windows in the background.
- Position your device on a stable surface to avoid shaking of your image on the screen.
- Choose a comfortable chair for prolonged meetings (e.g., Leaf chairs with adjustable seat height and lumbar support; if not available, choose a Milos chair with anatomic injectable foam).
4 Share only approved material
Run connection tests with your staff to verify and share only presentation documents pertinent to the videoconference to avoid private documentation and/or not relevant material.
